I have tested my connection via RDP to my vm-desktop and by using win-auth on the view client and they work fine. If i try the smart card it prompts me for my pin and then nothing happens. The last message in the log is "wswc_ui_operation: MVDIInstalled". Not sure what is going on and I have no idea where to look next? Can anyone help me PLEASE!!
Thanks
Please check your connection/security server logs where you configured smartcard authentication. have you tried with another client machine and card?
I have tried another client and a differnt user account with the same thing. I can set the smart card to optional and and login with my winAuth, get to the desktop menu witch i cant do with the smart card and long in to a VM desktop. I looked at the logs and can see the winAuth login and get to the VMware view app but the security events don't show anything for the smart card but does show an entry for the application for the same time as the login, the entry is "No SubjectAlternativeName found"
If I look at view administrate event logs I see the winAuth log in but not the smart card.
After some time passes the client comes back and said "The View connection Server connection failed. The View Connection Server request timed out."
Hi,
I didn't look at logs yet, but from what you mentioned it seems your AD configuration is missing UPN for user accounts.
Here is what admin guide says..
"Because smart card logins rely on user principal names (UPNs), the Active Directory accounts of users
that use smart cards to authenticate in View must have a valid UPN."
Please refer View4.5 Admin guide page 125 for more details and how to configure this.
