I actually thought there are for sure many blog posts that compare Windows 10 and Windows 7 regarding HW-resource consumption. But actually all I found were optimizing guides and comparison of Win10 optimized and non-optimized. Except these two sources:

Unfortunately they seem to come to different conclusions. Whereas VMware states "Although Windows 10 optimized and Windows 7 optimized showed similar results, the overall CPU, memory, and disk latency were lower on the Windows 10 optimized virtual machine.", ProjectVRC concludes "Fully tuned, Windows 10 only consumes 10% more total Processor time (which includes hypervisor overhead) in comparison to Windows 7."
What are your experiences? Did you have to buy additional hardware in order to be able to migrate to windows 10?
Additionally, I am also very interested in experiences regarding HW-Resource-demands when upgrading to Office 2013 or 2016.
