Who knows about the licensing?

I have a possible scenario where some departments are prime candidates for linked clones and others not. IF I wanted to run say 1000 users in linked clone pools with thinapp (Premier License) and another 500 with full desktops (Ent) is it possible to license this? and if so how?

I think I read somewhere that it would come down to good will, ensuring you had the licenses purchased. So maybe purchase the 1,000 with Linked Clone (Premier) and then its just good will that you have the other 500 licenses purchased. I have never seen a limit count per say being enforced, but yet I have never reached the limit yet.

From a license point of view, yes.

From a technical point of view, on a single View Manager you cannot add more license.

But you can use more View Manager. Or simple enable it for the Premium version and then check manually the license compliance.

Andre would be correct. Technically the View Manager would see that the liscenses that you have entered are the premium version and allow you to use the advanced feature set. You as an administrator would have to ensure compliance. In terms of the VCenter liscensing, the hosts only see the liscense from a standpoint of home many vm's it can run at a time. It is kind of the same scenario as having Microsoft Office. While you technically can install it on more computers than you have liscenses for, it is your responisbility to ensure that you do not do so.
