What is the path of the RDP traffic from VM to client?

I'm looking at the documentation of View and I'm having a little trouble figuring out what the path of the RDP traffic is.

In one figure it shows the connection server on the public and private network. The VM is on the private network and the client is on the public network.

Later there is a diagram showing that the RDP traffic goes directly from the VM to the client bypassing the connection server. This can't happen unless the client and the VM are on the same network.

What is the path for the RDP traffic?

The View Manager is a connection brocker that can works in two way:

  • as a initial redirector: first HTTPS connection goes to View Manager, then all RDP traffic is direct

  • as a SSL proxy: all RDP traffic if tunneled in a HTTPS that goes to View Manager

Thanks for the info. That is quite helpful. I will need to test what you said before I can say the question is definitely answered. I need to find in the documentation how to set it up. There are 182 pages to read so it might take a little while.

The used port can help to understand the traffic flow.

For a full configuration see page 33 of:
