Is there a way to connect to a specific pool of desktops from the view portal without being presented with the entire page set of pools? Instead of entering this URL into a browser http://oursite/index.jsp which displays the entire set of pools, I want to enter http://oursite/pool. Is this possible?
Have you checked the options for the view client there are many parameters try wswc.exe -?, if there is not then just change the entitlement to be user or group specfic for the pools.
You could use the tag options if you have certain pools that you do not want to make available outside of the office. See page 86 of the View 4 admin guide if your interested. http://www.vmware.com/pdf/view401_admin_guide.pdf
