We have quite a large number of Dell Wyse T50 Thin Client units that run Ubuntu Linux 10.04.1 LTS (Lucid Lynx) on an ARMEL achitecture Marvell PJ4 v7 Processor-wmmx Rev 5 (v7l) CPU. The Interoperation matrix for VMware Horizon 7.3.1 lists client version 3.2 as the oldest supported VMware View Client. When we configure the T50 for use with TLSv1.2 protocol, it connects to the View Connect Server and successfully Authenticates with a Microsoft Active Directory account. The Pool choice is displayed and then when the user clicks on their pool choice, a black session box appears with a mouse pointer and then the View Client 3.2.0 CRASHES with what looks like a PCoIP connection error (RET -32). The same issue occurs if one runs Windows 32-bit View Client 3.2.1 from a Windows/7 Pro SP1 32-bit system. It appears that the Remote MKS system cannot connect to either 3.2.0/3.2.1 client with Version 7.3.1 (View Agent). Neither the T50 application nor the Windows application have any problems to a system running Agent 5.3.5.x via a View Connect server. The Windows/7 Pro SP1 32-bit system has no problems running VMware Horizon View 3.5.2 to the "new" VMware Horizon 7.3.1 pool. Attempts to find an *.armel.deb build for a newer View Connect Client in this environment have not been fruitful
Is there guidance available (PDF file, etc.) for customizing both the View Client 3.2.0 and/or the VMware Horizon 7.3.1 software so that they can function together?
1.) The Ubuntu Linux client CANNOT be updated.
2.) We would like to use SSL Protocol TLSv1.2 (Transport Layer Secuity)
3.) No additional USB devices (besides the usual Keyboad and Mouse) will be needed on these Dell Wyse T50 units.
Thanks for your time!
My own review of the Horizon 5.2 and Horizon 7.3.2 Administration guides, highlights the Message Security Mode differences between these two releases (among many others, of course). Currently, our "5.3.5" system is running with Message Security Mode DISABLED. A NEW test bed installation (not upgraded) of "7.3.1", FORCES the ENHANCED Message Security Mode and this cannot be downgraded. Only the UPGRADE effort from a previous release would allow DISABLED mode in "7.3.1", so we will pursue the upgrade path and start with DISABLED and work our way up to MIXED and then, ENABLED. We have removed all WYSE T50's from VDI service for now, replacing them with WYSE models that run View Client 4.4. The T50's continue to be useful as Windows RDP clients in our environment.
