Virtual desktop much slower on a Zero Client than with the windows client

Hello

We recently have done some upgrades in our Horizon environment and we now face some performance issues.

We are running on VMware Horizon version 7.8.0 with several Windows 10 pools

After upgrading the server to 7.8.0 and the pool from Windows 7 to Windows 10, we face strange performance problems on our Zero-Clients (PCoIP).

Users with Windows PC's using the latest Horizon client software have no problem. The virtual desktops are as fast as ever.

At the same location (same network), we have some zero clients with the Terradici Firmware 6.1. These clients have massive performance issues since the server/Windows upgrade.

Other locations do not have this issue at all.

So in short words:

Location 1:

  • Before the updates: Zero and Windows clients fast with Windows 7 virtual desktops
  • After the updates: Windows 10 virtual desktops fast on Windows clients but slow on zero clients.

Anybody who has or had the same issues? Any ideas?

Thanks in advance and kind regards

Hans-Peter

Do you have Terra2 zero clients? Try to upgrade to the latest firmware level.
