View VMware Virtual Audio (DevTap) volume settings.

Jump to solution

Hi All.

A user has requested that the sound volume settings is saved when she logs off and on again.

I thought  that these settings are saved with the hardware device reg keys.

So I thought the settings would be saved under ”HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class”.

But for some reason I can’t find the correct reg keys.

I tried using tools like regmon and a persistent desktop  to find the exact location  of where these setting are being saved but until this moment I have had no luck with it.

Does anybody have any idea where I should look to find the correct reg key’s ?

We are atm using view 5.3 with windows 7 vm’s.

We are using non persistent desktop pool.

Sound device = VMware Virtual Audio (DevTap)

If any further information is required please ask and I'll be happy to provide it

Dear Gaurav_Baghla.

Thank you for your fast response.
I have indeed tried regshot and tools like that.
Although the profiles Management  program you advise looks nice we prefer to avoid tools like that.

So atm where stil looking through the regkey’s to find the keys we need.

Having said that I think we will use the program unles we can find the keys.

What I do find strange is that there is no easy to find information on this subject.
The reason I find it strange because in my opinion the request to save the sound settings isn’t strange from the user point of view and i could image that this was a more common question.

Regards

Nico
