View Portal - Client Compatibility?

Hi VMWare community,

My remote access VDI has been up and running now for a few weeks... but I've run into a snag. Users with Windows 2000 Server and IE6 cannot access it. Neither can users with Windows Server 2003. When they connect to the view portal page, they get the error:

VMWare View Portal does not support your operating system.

Shouldn't it? I'm looking for the documentation that says it doesn't, I haven't found it yet.

Also, what about MAC clients?

Thanks in advance,

Ken

See page 18 of the View Admin guide. There is a support matrix for the View Web Components

Hope this helps.

Thanks for that...

But in this day and age, especially since Windows Server 2003 and others were available before release of View 3.0, why is there no support for them, or has VMWare announced planned support? Were into 2008 now and Version 7... hopefully a newer update will fix it so they can get on too Smiley Wink

I believe you can use those operating systems if you install the full client. You just can't use them through the web browser.

Hmm... ok will try that but know at least one location where they did that on Windows 2000 and it still doesn't work. I'll have them try again. Thanks for the help and advice.

That explains why my Windows 7 with IE8 doesn't work from home. We only have access setup to go through the web.

I breezed right on by that section when we were setting up our POC. Smiley Sad

I may have to try downloading IE7 and see if that works at home for me.
