Hey Everyone,

Troubleshooting performance and need some suggestions and clarifications.

What can we do to speed up the performance, really slow?  It doesn't look like it is IOPS, we put some on flash drives and no difference.  If we put 1 video card in each ESXi host will it make a difference?

Environment:

3 HP Servers, Proliant g3's - ESXi hosts running servers and view environment.

2 sockets - 8 cores - 32 logical, 196 gigs of memory each

CPU on hosts averages 15%

Memory on hosts averages 70%

View version 5.1.0 build 2323236

Storage is HP servers 9 TB's 50% utilization.

What exactly is really slow?  What kind of IOPS are you seeing?

The VMs are slow, logging in can take a while.  Loading and logging into applications can take considerably longer than on a physical.  Is this helpful?

How much does the video card in the esxi hosts matter?

Might check to make sure none of your GPO's are failing to apply that can slow down logon times.  Also check your profiles as those can cause slow logons as well.  IOPS are always going to be a factor, so you might run some tests and post those results.

Video card shouldn't make it slow to login.

Also have you optimized your VM already?  There's a VMware guide, and also a tool: VMware OS Optimization Tool – VMware Labs
