View Manager sizing if it is a VM and not physical server

Hi,

Based on the manual, 1 View Manager (run on physical server with 2 CPU) can support 1000 users.

Appreciate help on:

1. Is the above 2 cores or 2 sockets (which means 8 cores in Xeon 5500)?

2. If we run View Manager as a VM, how many desktop VMs (with 1 vCPU, 4 GB RAM, ample CPU in underlying ESX with Xeon 5500 chip) can it handle?

Thank you from Singapore

Hi,

should be the same. why not put it as a vm?

You have one more PServer less and the benefit of HA and DRS, so go on and make the server a vm.

Thanks. I'm not sure if the 2 CPU stated in physical world means 2 sockets (which means 8 cores) or 2 cores (which means just half a socket in today's quad-core world).

If it is indeed 2 physical chips (8 cores), that means around 200+ users per 2-vCPU View Manager. I certainly hope it is core and not socket Smiley Happy

With kind regards
