I have installed a second connection broker and while i can open the admin console on the original broker and can see that the 2nd broker is connected it is not able to open the admin manager on the 2nd broker. Any ideas or things i can check?
how to install the second server in Vmware View??...
the procedure is to install as Replica Server of View Manager
I had no problems installing the 2nd broker. And the broker does work as the pools etc all function when i shut down the first broker-i just cannot open the View Manager on the 2nd broker
From my understanding you use one instance of View Manager against all Connection Brokers.
If you got to the Config Screen in View manager and go to Servers, you will see the Connection Brokers. Lets say you have CB1 and CB2
If you want to restrict certain pools to a certain broker, you would go to it (eg. CB2), highlight it and select Edit. Then in the Tags field you would put the pool name to restrict that pool to only that Connection Broker.
IF this is what you are looking to accomplish , thatll do it.

Thanks
**Edit, didnt refresh the screen when you responded
so you mean that even though the shortcut to View Manager is installed on the 2nd server it is not meant to be opened? I have never clustered brokers before so never had this issue, but maybe it is not an issue at all if all brokers are supposed to share one instance
What are you trying to accomplish exactly?
Just have a secondary if something happens to the first?
Or you want to restrict certain groups to certain brokers?
I just wanted to have a secondary server-a replica-that seems to have worked fine-but when i shut the first one down to test this everything worked but i was unable to open the manager on the 2nd server. I would have assumed that in the event of an error i should still be able to open the management interface from either server but on CB2 it just hangs at the IE load screen after giving the message about the certificate being unknown.
When you down the first NODE (view manager), the view client cannot resolver view manager or replica whit DNSm that the problem, if you change or type ip or nado of the seconf vmware view, connect correctly.
It is unable to open the manager whether the first server is up or down. it is listed as localhost\admin
should i be changing that to an ip? Can i just use the ip perhaps of the first server?
Just tested it again with the secondary on and off and works no issues.
I would check your Services to make sure the Connection Server service and all other necessities are started on the second one.
Then try to connect to it either with the primary on or off.
Also , if its not already, add it into your View Admin instance that is working as a secondary/replica

all services are started from what i can tell. it appears to be something related to IE i am thinking now as when i use the specific ip address of the 2nd broker and connect from the first server it works just fine.
Or like alfonso said, it could be DNS related. If the hostname is not working but the IP is, strong possibility that its the case.
But its opening now
LOL
Did you try to get to the View Admin from your machine (thats not on the VMWare platform) ? That is the test.
it is really strange as when i use the ip on the 2nd machine it asks for a Flash install even though the version it asks for is already installed. I will try it with Firefox perhaps and see how that works.
and thanks for all the advice it has been quite useful
I use Firefox so maybe thats a factor, but strange none the less.
And no problem
Not an expert here either so I try to help based on what I know
