Trying to install View Composer (v3.0.0-691993) on my vCenter 5.1 server that has SQL Server 2012 SP1. I have a 64-bit DSN pointing to my View database called VMwareView and the connectivity test works. I’m using SQL authentication. At the setup screen where Composer asks for DSN information I enter my info and get an error message: “The database specified is not supported by [ProductName]”. I tried pointing my DSN to a SQL 2008 server with an empty VMwareView database and got the exact same message so I don’t think the issue is related to version of SQL server. No issues with vCenter and SQL 2012.
Any workarounds for this issue?
Hi -
Can you check if the the ODBC connection and make sure you selected 'Native Client 10.0' and not 11.0
Experienced the same issue myself today 😉

That was it. I download the SQL 2008 R2 native client and re-created my DSN using the 'SQL Native Client 10.0' instead of 11.0. Works now. Thanks!
