So I have a user that is having problems with their desktop icons moving after logoff/restart. The user has Windows XP 32bit as their OS with View 4.6 client installed. The VM is a Windows 7 64 bit. We use a multi-monitor setup and the user moves icons to different monitors and after they restart or logoff the icons move back to the original locations. Is this a Windows problem or a View problem?
It should not be a view problem. try logging with same user credentials to same desktop via RDP( non view) and check if you can still see the issue
Hi,
Check the following information http://www.vmware.com/products/view/faqs.html
Hope this information helps you.

I experience similar problems. I saw it in View 4.6 and now in View 5 and as far as I can tell, it's related to the PCoIP protocol. I don't see this problem when users connect with RDP. We also see open windows move from one monitor to the other when disconnecting and reconnecting, but it's not consistent. Once again, no issues when using RDP.
This is probably related to that Windows is moving the icons when configuring the screens, I guess when attaching it first attaches one monitor and then the other etc, and windows is moving the icons because of this.
I would recommend to open a SR with VMware to get more attention.
// Linjo
View. Linjo said it but I'm pretty sure what's happening is during login PCoIP is syncing to the displays and the resolution is changing which causes the icons to move. I doubt that's an easy one to fix (if it can be fixed).
What kind of client are you using?
I am using xp 32 bit client. View 4.6. That makes sense, but it turns out I have another user (xp 32 bit) that icon stays on his 3rd monitor. So that is weird. I think view is awesome, but have come to realize it does some of the most random weird things sometimes.
Has anyone had any luck correcting this issue?
We're experiencing the same thing on 5.1.
It does seem apparent that it's detecting different monitor configs in different states.
