View Agent update

Hello,

We plan to implement VMware View 4.5 with approx 300 clients. The clients are all installed as Full Clones from a template and the users connects over PCoIP.

While testing I realised that while a user is connected no View Agent update can be launched. Testing clients have View Agent 4.0 and I want to update to View Agent 4.5. For the users it will also be an annoying part if they have to reboot the client for the update but do not know when the update has finished.

My question to you is: How do you handle View Agent updates?

It would be nice if VMware would implement an automatism in View Administrator to update with one click, like VMware Tools in vSphere.

You can update the agent through command line and pass some parameters. But defenitely View agent services need to be stopped time.

Hence downtime to end users cannot be avoided especilly during upgrade.

Refer VMware View Upgrade Guide Guide for more details
