View Agent installation 5.1.1

In previous versions it was always recommended to install the agent before anything else (well after tools anyway) and without .net framework installed. Is this still the case or can I just install the 5.1.1 agent onto my fully loaded master image over the top of agent 4.6

I upgraded my tools and then installed the new agent over top of my 5.0 agent without any issues at all.

Just don't upgrade your VMware Tools with out reinstalling the view agent or you will end up with a bunch of users having issues.  Follow the same proceedures you have been.

So there isnt a problem in upgrading tools, then installing the new agent using the snapshot I previsouly was, then taking another snapshot to push out the new agent. What I am trying to say is, is there any need to reinstall everything and start from a fresh windows 7 image without .net

Correct.  There is no need to do that.
