View Agent 7.12 Persona corrupt ntuser.dat

Hi

Since upgrade 7.12 we have a  user (evere day about 5) where the ntuser.dat is corrupt after logoff.

when they login again, they logged in with temp user profil.

i cannot open the ntuser.dat with regedit, and have to restore it.

we using persona, image is Win10 LTSC 1809

Any one same problem or any ideas?

Hi izkoenizmuri

What kind of machines are you using? Are these persistent VMs assigned to the user Or user gets a different VM on each logon?

Generally are you logged in with temp profile when the user profile is corrupted Or if there is any stale user profile entry.

  • Open regedit as local admin on the VM and navigate to HKLM\software\microsoft windowsNT\current version\profile list . If there is any key with '.bak' extension, its a corrupted one.

  • Note:Take a backup of complete 'Profilelist' reg hive first.

  • Delete all such '.bak' keys under 'profilelist'

  • Reboot the virtual machine

  • Ask the user to login and check.

PS: Persona is going to be deprecated very soon (most probably with horizon 8.x release) and there will not be any enhancement or feature improvements to it, hence I would recommend you to look for other profile management solutions like dynamic environment manager. FSLogix which are far better than persona especially for managing profiles on Windows10 based systems.

Hi

Thanks for your answer

this is a floating pool, not persistent, so after logoff desktop ist destroyed

ntuser.dat was roamed to persona share, and there i cant't open the file anymore with regedit cause of corruption

Hi izkoenizmuri

If you can't open the user profile anymore on persona repository, means profile is corrupted. Better to rename the existing profile and let user login and create profile.
