Hello,
Noob here so go easy on me.
I am having issue with Horizon View after upgrading it from 5.3 to 7.2
I have upgraded my connection server to 7.2 and one of the vm's to View agent 7.2.
When I try to log in the that VM from the Horizon client, I get an error : "Unable to connect to desktop. There is no available gateway for the display protocol."
By the way, I am connecting through PCoIP.
Enabled TLSv1.0 on the connection server, according to this : Enable TLSv1.0 on vCenter Connections from Connection Server
I have other connection servers and other vm's but I am given access to just these 2 for testing.
Steps performed:
Uninstalled the older version of the view agent
Reboot
Uninstalled the older version of VMware tools
Reboot
Installed the newer version of VMware tools
Reboot
Installed the View agent 7.2
Reboot.
I am able to revert to the snapshot on both the Connection server and the vm and able to connect without any error.
Anything else I can do to make this work?
Anyone had this issue before and have any ideas to solve this issue?
Thank you in advance.
Hello,
Could you please verify if you are able to login without tunneling? is it specific to only external users or internal users also experience this issue?
Does connection go through fine with Blast?
Yes, the connection goes fine with Blast but PCoIP is the default protocol.
I can login just fine through VMware vsphere client. I am testing on this one vm only with the newer version of View. Other vms are still on older version and they are connecting just fine through other Connection servers.
Thank you.
This is a know issues with 7.2. Please contact VMware support. They replaced the securegateway.exe with 7.3 but we got got it prior to solve the problem.
Thanks.
I will try to contact them and see what they have to say and update it.
Make sure they give you this version of the executable
pcoip-soft.git-vmw-10603173 2.5.0.d9bc52
Sorry, I don't understand.
Version of the new view agent?
And what is "pcoip-soft.git-vmw-10603173 2.5.0.d9bc52"?
Thanks.
I think I understand what you are saying.
Thanks.
The solution is to replace the securegateway.exe on each of the connections with a new version as mentioned.
The solution is to replace the securegateway.exe on each of the connection servers with a new version.
Thank you.
I contacted the VMware support and explained my dilemma.
And ofcourse when the support person remotes into my server to check things, there is no error so they cannot see what is happening.
Although one thing was found out, and I had to do this only a couple of times, that after the installation of Horizon 7.2 version, the View Connection Server service had to be restarted for some reason.
Also the support said that Horizon View should have be upgraded from 5.3.4 to 5.3.7 and and not directly to 7.2
Is there any way to downgrade it back to 5.3.4 and not cause any major issue?
I can remove the instance of ADAM and connection server software from the server, also remove the instances of this CS from other working CS's.
Upgrade the working CS's to Horizon 5.3.7 which is the latest version in 5.x
Install Horizon 7.2 on this CS as a replica server.
Any ideas?
Thank you.
Wait, are you running Horizon 7.2 in production now? 7.3.1 includes the fix. This VMware engineer did not know about this specific issue and should have advised you about it. Also, is there a specific reason why you enable PCoIP secure gateway? Firewall configuration, external connections ? You know this issue was resolved with the latest version 7.3.1. I recommend to upgrade to this version. Please see attached.
Thank you Mrcole.
I have installed 7.3.1 on the connection server. I have also installed the 7.3.1 Horizon agent on one of the vm, and upgraded the VM tools and I was able to log into the vm through the Horizon client.
After installing the 7.3.1 version, I restarted the server and I had to restart the View Connection Server service to get into the Administrator console. Any ideas why I had to restart the service after I restart the server?
Thank you again.
