View 5.1 Client Issue

We currently have an issue for one user (currently) in a View 5.1 pilot environment. He's using a relatively recent HP laptop (self-provided) running Windows 7 Home Premium with the View 5.1 client installed (5.1.0 build-704644). Roughly 2 out of 3 times when attempting to login to view the login dialog dissappears following login but the desktop window never appears. In task manager there is no 'View Client' application running, but the wswc.exe process is still present. The only way to 'fix' this is to force wswc.exe to close with 'End Process' and then retry.

Once he's successfully connected View client works fine / as expected and there are no issues.

Anyone have any idea what could be causing this or how to troubleshoot ?

We've already tried completely removing/reinstalling the View client several times, disabling AV software, making sure all current MS and HP patches are installed etc. but nothing has made any difference.

I've certainly not encountered this before on any other machines so think it's definitely related to this specific laptop, but need some way to troubleshoot and identify what the issue is - any ideas ?

Have you tried an older client to see if it has the same issues?
