I've heard late this week but to be honest I've seen nothing firm from VMware on when it will be available for download.

That's what I heard/read, too. Also from what I read about VMworld, GA should be in early September.

At least, VMware already offers the new version as a trial at https://www.vmware.com/tryvmware/?p=view45&lp=1

However when you register, you will get a notice that you will receive an email once it is available.

It is early September. Any later and it'll be mid September. I was all excited after VMWorld and attending the breakout session on View. Now I am back in the office and ready to test out View 4.5, but it's not available. Smiley Sad

What gives VMWare?

I don't think it's going to be in the release of 4.5 at least it wasn't in the 4.5 labs at VMworld. I heard we may see it in a followup release but no eta.

That's cool. One of my favorite things about VMWare is they try very hard to to release something that is half baked.

What I do know is once it is in a version of View it will be solid --like a rock.

You can download VMware View 4.5 here: http://downloads.vmware.com/d/info/desktop_downloads/vmware_view/4_5

Just keep hitting F5 (refresh) until the binaries show up Smiley Wink

I'm on the Beta of 4.5 and just filled out the closing survey for the beta. So its very soon. You guys ready for real Windows 7 support? I'll tell you what, I'm ready to be able to legally talk about it, been on it for 6 damn months, and the only people I can talk with are other Beta testers.

And BTW I was told September 9th, this is a VMWorld communication not a Beta participate thing.

I like it! Smiley Happy

I'll post more when I'm no longer on NDA. I already have my blog written, just can't post until its released. Kiosk mode rocks, that I've already posted about because that's a FIrmware upgrade to Teradici, and hense not under NDA. I have to be careful, I'd like to be on the 5.0 Beta.

I didn't particpate in the beta this time around but I did spend a lot of time in the labs at VMworld. I'll note some things below that I felt where very cool features.

Role Based Administration

Storage Tiering

ThinApp integration

Windows 7 support

Was at a vBlock meeting today in Charlotte, NC, and it was announced that VMWare View 4.5 will be released tomorrow for download. Also RTO Virtual Profiles did not make into this release.

I think they are on the West Coast, so they probably will not release them until their day starts over there. Maybe around 11 or 12 EST?

I've heard it won't be fully released until this evening, but who knows how true that is.

I'm fairly excited for the update. Can't wait to get our hands on it!
