View - 3 Servers required?

Hello,

I am getting myself familiar with view and have set up a demo environment.

Currently I ended up with three servers (running on one ESXi box).

1 - VCenter + SQL + Composer + ADS

2 - View Connection server + ADS

3 - View transaction server

Is this really necesary or can any or more components be installed in the same server ?

The three server scenario seemed a bit overkill for running 20-25 view desktops.

Thanks

Hi,

you will need at least 2 servers: vCenter (including SQL) and connection server.

Please keep in mind that vCenter can NOT be a domain controller since 4.0.

The transfer server is only needed for using offline desktops of a pool of linked clones.

Best regards

Christian

Thanks for answering.

Indeed I need the transfer server to be able to use offline desktops. Can the transfer server be installed on the VCenter or the Connection server or does it need a dedicated Windows server.

thanks.

I think it might be possible. But looking at the prerequisites I would not do that, even if it was possible.

View 4.5 will require at least those 3 servers if you plan to use offline mode. We do not support the View components being installed on a server with any other component with the exception of Composer because it needs to be installed on the VC server.

If you have any other questions, let me know.
