Video Differences Between the 4.6 and 5.1.2 Environments

Hello -

We have some video monitoring software that controls several video cameras through out the city.  The 2 users that currently use it are both in our VIEW 4.6 environment.  We are wanting to migrate them over to our 5.1.2 environment using the standard VMWARE SVGA 3D driver but when we do, the software will run but the video display within the software is black.  Weird thing is if we take the video driver (SVGA II) from what the tools install in the 4.6 environment and install it on a VM in our 5 environment the video in the software will work.  This would be "OK" to do but we have yet another issue.  This only works with just one monitor.  When a second monitor is added the video on the camera software stops working.  Take away the second monitor and it will start back up.  We have tried to increase the video memory but it appears that the video driver will not allow anything over 128mb.  These users are wanting to use two monitors and I am really trying to find another way to get this to work without using an olser video driver from a seperate environment.

Below are the specs on the VM

Windows 7 64bit

1CPU     We have tried 2 and it did not make a difference

4gb of memory     Increasing it did not help

50gb HD

We have also tried several different thin clients and the result is still the same.  One monitor will work and two will not.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Given that this is tied to a specific video software I think the best course of action is to open a ticket with VMware.   They may have already dealt with this before and may have a solution.
