Our organization is currently looking into desktop management options. Currently the staff manage their own desktops (run as local admin) and get support from a help desk (painful, yes i agree). We're looking at moving towards a managed desktop strategy with a product like MS system center configuration manger. However, we're also interested the concept of vmware view since it would theoretically cut down on the need for support and greatly enhance security.
Does anyone have any success stories/reccomendations of implementing vmware view as a desktop replacement in a common office scenario?
I worked on a project, where the customer replaced 1200 desktop pc's with VDI. In the first step they used the FAT clients as the connecting device, but now they also strated to implement thin clients. It's a finance customer, so they are using Office products, Acrobat Reader and some banking applications.

Have you already checked the customer case studies on vmeare.com? Maybe they can give you more information.

Yes, I did read those but none specifically stated they were succesful in implementing vmware view in an office environment. All are refering to hospitals, labs and development environments.
Has anyone ever successfully implemented vmware view as a desktop replacement in an office environment?
