VMware view desktop status "Already Used"

Hi,

I am having issue with my view desktops.

Once users logoff from the view desktops the machines have to get refreshed and come to available state as per our pool settings.

But some of the desktops are showing "Already Used" status. This is happening randomly for some desktops.

Why is this happening?

Regards,

Venkat.

Here is an explanation taken from the view 4.6 release notes.

Occasionally, if a desktop was set to be refreshed or deleted after log-off, the desktop was not refreshed or deleted but instead was reused. This situation sometimes arose if the user had reset the desktop, shut it down without logging off of View Client, or exited unexpectedly, such as might happen when the ESX host was restarted. With View 4.6, the desktop is now marked as "Already used" so that it will not be used again. Administrators can manually refresh or delete such desktops.

So, is this the problem with View 4.6 release itself?

Currently according to our GPO setiings user is having "shutdown" option. If it is changed to "logoff" can i resolve this issue?

You can give it a try and see if that helps. Most likely it should resolve the issue as user will be disconnecting client session and logiing out of desktop session

I have this problem also then I found some of this devices dont have any attached nic. I fix it by editing the master with a property of device.hotplug = FALSE  CHECK http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=102623....  After this change recompose your pool.

This behavior happen when my students tried to detach the pen drive on the vm and select the wrong device on the USB menu.(Ethernet controller).
