VMware View printing over VPN

Hi all

We are looking to deploy VMware View to a new remote office. We will be installing WYSE P25 terminals for users to access their View desktop. The office currently has a site to site VPN. There is a networked printer onsite that users print to.

After some initial tests we have some connectivity issues with accessing VMware View over a VPN. The View client displays an error "The connection to the remote computer ended"

The View broker(s) can be accessed via DNS address over WAN, so we presume there is an issue with encapsulating PCoIP traffic within a VPN tunnel?

As far as I can tell the VPN tunnel would only need to be used so that the printer can be deployed via thin print to the users desktop?

Has anyone had to deal with a similar scenario? There must be other organization's that use VMware view remotely and print to networked printers?

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Many thanks,

Matt

So this does only happen when you try to print?

What type of VPN is it and how many users?

No this happens when you try to connect to View using either via view client or WYSE terminal.

This is a site to site VPN. Will serve approx 10-20 users.

Presumably the only reason to keep the VPN will be so that the networked printer can be deployed via GPO/Thinprint?

Many thanks

Do you have the PCoIP Secure Gateway box checked under View Configuration > Servers > Connection Servers > Select your Server > General Tab

VMware KB: Configuring PCoIP Secure Gateway in VMware View

It is enabled on the 2 external facing view connection servers. Not on the 2 internal LAN connection servers

The external facing view connection brokers are paired with 2 security servers located in a DMZ network.
