Does anyone know whether it is feasible for a standard user to be able refresh their desktop? (i.e. to restore the desktop back to the original image). I know this is possible if the user has access to the admin interface, but would like to avoid this route.
When a user connects via the client and after authentication with with connection broker, a list of VMs is presented. Against each VM, under the options tab it is possible to select 3 options; (1) connect, (2) reset and (3) refresh. The latter is greyed out - how can this be enabled for the user(s)?
I've never noticed that option. Perhaps it only becomes available if a refresh/recompose is scheduled for the VM?
The option is there even when their is no scheduled refresh. The same as 'connect' option which is always there but isn't greyed out, whereas the 'refresh' option is not available (i.e. is greyed out).
My last stab in the dark, maybe it's available when the user has taken the VM offline?
In fact, I think that may be it, if i look in the offline policies -
Offline Desktop Policies
Edit Policies...
Name Global Policy
Offline Desktop Allow
User-initiated rollback Allow
Max time without server contact xDays
That "refresh" button on the client side is only to refresh the user interface of the client, i.e. if the status of one of your desktops has changed.I believe it's only enabled for Offline.
It is not related to the View Composer refresh functionality.
Thanks for the feedback. My requirement is to allow users to refresh their desktops without access to VDI admin - is there a way to do this?
It does not appear to be possible at this time. I would submit an enhancement request
