VMware View Floating vs Persistant

I am planning our VMware View deployment, but stuck at the floating vs persistant deployment.

If I did persistant deployment and had users data stored on a seperate drive - will I lose users application install during recompose?

For floating... I don't want to buy any third party profile redirector... do I really need it? Also thinapp has to be used here for any software they want to install and use correct?

Was there any sign that VMware View 5 will be handling the profile redirection?

How hard is it to switch from persistant to floating after I deployed it?

Thanks,

CS

Hi CS.

Every bigger install of View will probably make use of both types of pools depending on the type of users, do the users need to install applications and have persistent data then floating pools are out of the question.

You don't need to use any thirdparty tools, roaming profiles might be sufficiant for you.

Its not possible to switch from floating to dedicated once deployed.

Have your eyes and ears open for announcements around VMworld for some interesting news regarding new features..
