Hi All,
At moment I'm under feasibility for our business requirement, and I’m evaluating the VMware View 4 and so when I install VMware View Connection Server, it gives me the following message at the time on installation.
-
VMware View Connection Server
-
This computer is not a member of a domain. Installation can not continue. Please join this computer to a domain and then retry this installation.
Is there any way to proceed ahead during the evaluation without adding my computer to the domain and continue with local PC adding to WORKGROUP? I would like to avoid setting up another domain server for feasibility study.
Another problem, even If I add this computer to domain, it does not allow me to login with normal User ID and password, it gives me the following error message.
-
VMware View Manager
-
This user does not have access to the View Administrator. Contact the system administrator.
-
This may sound very unusual, Is there any solution?
No, the View Manager needs to be a member server of a Windows Domain.
To be able to login to the admin interface with another user you need to give that user admin rights to View first.

As Linjo stated the View Manager must be part of a domain because it uses ADAM (Active Directory Aplication Mode, a local copy of the AD with some view manager addons, in this way no changes have to be made in AD), ADAM is also the reason why the View Manager server cannot be a domain controller either. I hope this makes clear that View Connection Server/manager is highly depending on a (separate) domain controller.
Default (only) users with domain admin rights have access to the view admin portal, within the admin portal you can assign rights to other domain users.

There is no way for any one other than the OP to assign points. I'm glad it helped solve your issue.
