VMware View Agent Direct-Connection Plugin and Blast

Hello,

Does the Direct-Connection plugin allow direct HTML5 access direct to the virtual desktop?

From https://www.vmware.com/pdf/horizon-view/horizon-view-agent-53-direct-connection-plugin-administratio... p5:

With VMware Horizon View Agent Direct-Connection Plugin running on a virtual desktop, the client can

connect directly to the virtual desktop. All the View desktop features of PCoIP, HTML5 Access, RDP, USB

redirection, and session management work in the same way, as if the user had connected through View

Connection Server.

Thanks,

Joe

Linjo,

So I installed the View agent, feature pack and the direct-access plugin.  I can connect with the full view client directly to the desktop.  Here is what I get connecting to the port that Blast is running on or 443.

For port 22443 (Blast) I get Unauthorized

For port 443 I get Not Found - HTTP Error 404. The requested resource is not found.

(I tried to add screenshots, some thing up with community)

Thanks, Joe

VADC does support the Blast protocol but there are additional setup steps to host the static web server content for the actual HTML Access Client.

Normally, in a full View environment the HTML5 client is hosted on the Connection Server, but in a typical VADC deployment there is no Connection Server.

I'll publish some manual setup steps for this soon. When this is published and set up, you'll be able to just point a browser at the virtual desktop to get Blast access.

In the mean time you can use all other clients to access the View desktop directly with PCoIP or RDP.

Mark,

Any chance that you've put together the documentation to setup blast on the direct connection plug-in? Or maybe even just a point in the right direction?

thanks,

Does anyone know if you can use this plug in to allow users to connect via a external connection??

Yes that should work fine, have a look at the GPO:s on howto set the external URL and External PCoIP IP.

You should be able to by installing the HTML access binary.  Refer to https://pubs.vmware.com/horizon-view-60/topic/com.vmware.ICbase/PDF/view-agent-60-direct-connection-...
