VMware View 5 and Barracuda 340 Network Load Balancer

Hi community - I was wondering if anyone has any experience setting up NLB using a Barracuda 340 NLB appliance? I can't seem to figure out which protocols are going to be necessary for traffic to pass. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks - Wolverine

Regarding the static ARP, this is required for MS NLB, because NLB  relies on multicast.  At least the type most use, is multicast, and not  the unicast load balancing.  When you are using multicast, when the vm's  send a multicast MAC address coming from a unicast IP, this confuses  some routers, and so that ARP update is not recorded in the router's  MAC/CAM table, which is why the static entry is required.  A static arp  entry involves setting a MAC and IP, so no additional work is required  there. http://spaceship.sytes.net

I am working on the same issue.  Did you ever get this figured out?

sorry Jay. I never did find an answer for this. I needed up using MS load balancing for the environment. Not the best solution, but it works if your network supports multicast protocol.
