VMware View 4 CD Roms

Hello. I am currently in the testing phase of implementing VMware View 4. I have 8 Test VM's. All the VM guests are Windows 7 running on Windows XP clients running VMware View Client 4.

None of my VM's can see or access their CD Roms. Any Ideas?

I'm REALLY new at this so please be specific. Thank you VERY much!

Can you verify that the vms, have marked the checkbox connect, or connect at power on?

Those boxes are greyed out - I cannot adjust them with or without the VM being powered on. They do not have checks in them however.

Try power down one off them, and next check the box and power on the vm.

They are no reasons, try with this because this is the most common issue.

I cannot check either of the boxes powered on or off. They are greyed out because I have "Client Device" chosen as the Device Type. If this isn't correct - then that might be my issue.

that is not an issue, when you use a client device, you need to select the connect media icon in the toolbar of the viclient.

Where is this toolbar? Are you talking inside the OS of the Guest OS? Are you talking about the bar that comes down when you move your mouse to the top of the screen where the USB devices show up?

I tried that before... and just tried it again. It works... but the CD Drive my users are attaching to is MINE. It's weird. When they right click their CD Drive and choose "Eject" MY cd drive on my PC ejects. MY pc is the PC I have Vsphere client loaded on which allows me to manage all the VM's

Good point, in this case you can map the Datastore ISO to map to the users to an a particular ISO.

Im going to make a lab to test if you can map the local CD to the remote virtual desktop CD.
