Hi Experts,
I am a newbie in VMware desktop technologies and I want to learn VMware Horizon installation and configuration.
So is it possible to use VMware workstation to configure horizon lab?
Also, it will be helpful if someone can suggest any resource link from where I can start learning.
Thanks in advance.

Yes its possible, but you need to nest a vsphere enviornment. I wouldn't recommend anything less then 4 cores , 32gb of memory, , and at least 2 disk. Look at the various articles you can fine online for creating a nested vsphere lab like
A Tutorial About Creating a VMware vSphere 7 Home Lab (nakivo.com)
and then once thats done looks at somelike like

Another great way to start learning about Horizon is with a free Hands-on lab. https://customerconnect.vmware.com/en/web/vmware/evalcenter?p=horizon-hol-gs-21 has the details.

Thanks for replying sjesse,
I believe in my personal desktop its not possible the configuration you suggested. But from my organization I can arrange a Citrix XenServer lab. But again my question is will can we configure lab on XenServer or it has dependency on VMware.

Hi Jon,
Thanks for sharing this. This sounds a good option. Can we build a lab from scratch here?

No, you can't build a Horizon lab from scratch in this Hands-on lab. It's more about giving you hands on experience of common use cases/tasks. https://docs.hol.vmware.com/HOL-2021/hol-2151-01-dws_pdf_en.pdf has an overview and breakdown of the modules.
Thanks
Jon
