VMware Horizon View PCoIP

Hi,

we've a test lab testing out VMware Horizon view on a test enviroment however we're seeing the following issues,

when we connect via vmware view client enter the username details then select on the desktop we're seeing the following two errors:

it tries to connect to the desktop then we get a black screen and then a prompt that says the the connection to the remote computer ended.

The other error we get is "the display protocol for this desktop is currently not available, then if we click try again we get the black screen then same error message the connection to the remote computer ended.

if we select RDP this works.

this setup is setup in the following way:

                                            (hardware f/w)                                      (Win7) (Windows Firewall)

Vmware client application >>> Firewall >>>> connection server >>>> virtual desktop

Hardware firewall has ports 443 forwarded to connection server

Hardware firewall has ports 4172 open from connection server to virtual desktop

virtual desktop has ports 4172 open from virtual desktop to connection server

am i missing anything?

What we're finding with RDP is that it's poor performance on YouTube and viewing the web

Hi,

Looks like your firewall rules are not set up properly.

Please refer this doc and setup the rules http://communities.vmware.com/docs/DOC-14974

Yeah, probably firewall, but you didn't mention if you had secure tunneling turned on.  If not, then you need ports (usually 4172) from the client application to the virtual desktop.  Without secure tunneling, the connection is handed off and the connection server is no longer involved.

Other than that, I agree, try to open all ports as defined in that doc.
