VMWare View test lab

Hi Guys,

I am very keen to get some hands on learning on VMware View although i dont have much knowledge about it.I was thinking of setting up a small test lab and than playing with that to know learn more about the product. Can someone suggest me what all would i need ?

For information , currently i have VMware Workstation on my computer and few VMs running over that , one of the VMs has VC and one has ESX 4i and 2 Windows VM. Can someone please tell me if i can setup a test environment on same PC and what all i need to do ?

Cheers and thanks in advance;

To understand how View works you need at least this machine/VM:

  • 1 ESX 3.5

  • 1 VC 2.5 + View Composer

  • 1 View Manager

You can do with your environment.

i also tried it with ESX4, works fine, but until now it is nut supported, and also functions like LinkedClones and Offline Desktop are not able to use.

Use the Enterprise or the Premium version...

The binary of View Manger is the same in both cases.

Is not official supported, but it can work (as written before) without offline and linked clone.
