VMWare View on VMware vSphere Hypervisor

Can VMWare View run on VMware vSphere Hypervisor (free edition)?

As written you must have vCenter Server, and vCenter does not manage free ESXi...

So you have only two solutions:

  • buy a vSphere package with vCenter and ESXi AND View add-on licenses
  • buy the full View packages that include also the vSphere part

Yes. When you purchase View you get licenses for as many ESXi instances as you need to support the View environment.

You my be able to install the virtual machines (e.g. View Connection Server, Transfer Server, ...) on a free Hypervisor. However, VMware View needs to connect to a vCenter Server instance to work, so the answer to your question is "No".

As mentioned by the other poster, depending on the View licenses you purchase, the vSphere licenses you need for the View environment are included.
