I have two PC's both are Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit machines. My laptop will connect to my work PC, but my desktop will not. It is aware of my smart card, but when I try and connect it fails saying "The View Connection Server connection failed. Smart Card or Certificate authentication is required." Any one else had a problem like this?

I too am have a few users having this issue. It works fine on Win 7 laptop but fails on Win 7 desktop. So far support has not been able to help.
That really is strange. You are using smart cards? I had limited success connecting by adding my certificate to certificate manager for the host name of the view server I was connecting to. I was able to connect once, but I accidentally bumped the card out of the reader while connected and now can not connect that way again. Have you tried connecting using credential manager?
We have smart cards required for all connections. We are only having this problem with WIN 7 desktops. Can't use credential manager

I followed the steps describe in the blog provided by grossag. However I ended up with an error it didn't account for. After getting a list of accepted issuer and verifying my cert was issued by one of them, I got this error:
HttpSendRequest returned ERROR_INTERNET_SECURITY_CHANNEL_ERROR
It turns out that vmware shares some settings with IE. Since I don’t use IE, I just reset all of my IE settings back to there default. Here are the steps I took to fix it.
1. Open IE
2. Tools
3. Internet Options
4. Advanced
5. Reset
6. Check ‘Delete personal Settings’
7. Reset
Thanks for your help grossag.
