I am planning an upgrade of the VMware View infrastructure:
I have :
VMWare View 4.5
VCenter Server 4.1
From the VMware View Upgrades pdf I took that I could upgrade Virtual Center to 5.0 the upgrade View, but in looking at the http://http://www.vmware.com/resources/compatibility/sim/interop_matrix.php , the VMware Compatibility Matrix, it looks like VCenter 5.0 and View 4.5 are not compatible.
So, 2 options:
1-Upgrade VCenter to 4.1. Update 1, then upgrade View to 5.0, then upgfrade VCenter to 5.0.
2-Uograde View to 4.6, then upgrade VCenter to 5.0, then upgrade View to 5.0.
Do you guys have any feedback? Has anybody tried an upgrade starting from VCenter 4.1 and View 4.5 ?
Thanks
According to the guides My upgrade plan are given beloww (and, please, tell me if this is wrong):
1. View Connection Server 4.6 -> 5 [ same server upgrade ]
2. View Composer 2.6 (View 4.6) -> 2.7 (View 5) [ same server upgrade ]
3. View Center (and sub-items like Update Manager) 4.1 U1 -> 5 [ same server upgrade ]
4. ESXi 4.1 U1 -> 5 [ probably vmotion VMs / fresh install ]

Milton

Yeah, unfortunately my vCenter Server is at 4.1, if I upgraded it to 4.1. U1, it would not support VIEW 4.5 I believe.
4.6 is supported on 4.1 and 4.1 update once so you could update to 4.6 and then update your vCenter to 4.1 to remain in a supported configuration.
Thanks, I am in fact going to plan the upgrade to View 4.6, then VC to 5.0, then View to 5.0.
Thanks mittim. So VIEW needs to be upgraded before VCenter, correct ?
Yeah, I think you would upgrade to View 4.6 first.
