Trying to install VMWare Composer on my Virtual Center Server and it will not complete the install. It goes through the setup fine and starts the install. After copying files for a bit, it begins an automatic rollback.
I am logged in with and account that is a domain admin and an admin on the Vcenter server. I have tested the ODBC connection to the database and it works. Using the remote SQL and a SQL account for access to the database. I followed the Admin guide for creating the database and the DSN in ODBC.
I pulled the vminst.log and this is what it contained for an error.

I could not find a reference as to what the error means. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Are you using a supported version of Windows?
Seems that you have some problems with SSL library.
Check if you have different version of ssleay32.dll on your system.
Andre
My Virtual Center Server is running on Win 2008 Standard 32-bit OS. Service Pack 2 installed. We have added the VM converter and VUM modules to Virtual Center.
I found 2 versions of the ssleay.dll file on the server: Version 0.9.8.10 with size 208kb, and Version .9.7.100 with size 162kb. I tried renaming each one and re-trying the install, it continues to fail and rollback. I tried removing both and re-install composer and it still fails and rolls back. The VMinst.log shows the same error messages as above.
Ok, here are both the log files from my failed installation of Composer. Attached vminst.log and svicfg.log.
It looks like this may be what is causing the problem, this came from the svicfg.log.
svicfg: 03/31/10 09:06:04 C:\Users\vmwsa\AppData\Local\Temp\1\{680FAA58-1E5C-406F-BEE6-624266441955}\SviConfig.exe -installer -operation=BindCertificate -IP=0.0.0.0 -Port=8443 -Delete=true
svicfg: 03/31/10 09:06:05 4|Access is denied
I do not know why it is being denied access.
Hi,
do you found a solution?
I have the same issue in my View 4.6 installation.
Thanks
Stefan
Are you using a non-english version of Windows? If so, could you try an english version?
// Linjo
Yes it is a german windows system but I can't change it to an english vCenter right now.
