VDM Client & Desktop wallpaper (wallpaper doesn't display after user is logged in)

Hi,

We have an issue withVDM and the desktop wallpaper.

One of our customers wants his 40 VDM workstations with the same desktop wallpaper. Every computers are in a local with a gigabit connection so, performances is not an issue.

The workstations are on Windows XP SP3 and we did put the jpg and bmp wallpaper on windows folder (in every VM).

We defined a new GPO in order to force the use of the wallpaper.

When a user is logging on the computer, you can see for few seconds the correct wallpaper and then, when every icon on the desktop appears, the desktop wallpaper disappear and a small "icon" in the top left corner appears.

When we check the desktop settings, we can see that the Wallpaper is correctly configured but it just doesn't display.

Is anyone here had the same issue ?

I tried to connect through Windows RDP the problem is the same.

Thanks in advance

this is an issue with GPO, not VDM. We have our VM's setup so that everyone gets the default user profile. In there, using GPO and registry hacks, the wallpaper is set. Now that doesn't stop the user(s) from changing their default background, it just initially sets the wallpaper. One thing to consider is deleting all other background images and .scr files.

This guide, http://www.vmware.com/files/pdf/vdi-xp-guide.pdf , may be helpful as well.
