I am about to perform an upgrade from VDM 2 with 200 virtual desktops, to View 3. I have read the KB article, and a few threads here. Once the upgrade is complete, all 200 workstations will have outdated agents.
Will the virtual workstations with old agents still work?
Anyone know of a menthod to do a mass upgrade of agents without a commercial software deployment tool?
Any workarounds?
Thanks!
They will work, but you should upgrade them to get the full functionality.
You could try to remotly script the installation with VB script and WMI.
Thanks,
Christoph
My virtual desktops with the older agents continued to work without any issues. I did find it a tad annoying that every time a user logged on through the web portal they were prompted to install the new client or continue to use the old one. I would have prefered that the new client be auto installed instead of giving the user a choice.
I'm sorry that I can't help in the deployment method. Perhaps something that runs during the login process that will check agent version and upgrade the agent.
