VDI VM freeze after updating VMware tools

Good morning,

After have patched the ESXi hosts (6.5) and updated the VMware tools on the VDI master, the new VM's display freeze after a few seconds.

What's "funny" is that if you run a command, it's processed but not displayed.

I had to uninstall the VMware tools, and reinstall the former ones to get rid of this.

VMware tools version causing issues : 10.2.1 build 8267844

Horizon 7.3.1

Former VMware tools version : 10.1.7 build 5748532

Master O/S : Windows 10 x64 v1709, 2 vCPU, 8Gb RAM

Did you already see that ?

Did not experience this with VMware Tools but often related to Antivirus locking up the System.

Have you tried using recent VMTools Version e.g. 10.3.2 ?

As u are goint with 10.2.1 i assume your ESXi Host have not been patched? Right?

Best regards

Andreas

On the server VMs, I didn't have issues.

Only VDI VMs.

The tools version was the one provided by the ESXi hosts (patched to 10719125, ESXi 6.5 EP 11).

Oh maybe mixed up the tools versions.
Before Upgrading please check here:VMware Product Interoperability Matrices

Maybe you experienced something like an issue with Horizon Agent 7.3.1 isn't supported with newer Tools version as seen in the matrices.
