VDA licenses

Hi,

We are trying to finalize our license for our Desktop deployment.

We already have a Windows 10 master image VM used for Linked Clone in our VMware environment.

My question is do we still need to purchase Microsoft VDA licenses on top of the Windows 10 license per instance?

Good morning,

Have a look at this other thread from last year Do I need Microsoft VDA License for VMware Horizon 7 Standard Edition ?

The short answer is it 'depends' but for the most part you likely will need Microsoft VDA unless your licensing model with Microsoft covers it in SA.

Hope that helps.

Not related to your question, but maybe worth mentioning.

Linked Clones (i.e. Composer) is a deprecated feature, so if you are just staring it may be worth considering Instant Clones (see. e.g. What’s New in VMware Horizon 8 2006, CART, App Volumes, and Dynamic Environment Manager).
