I was hoping to get some feedback as to how others are handling upgrading VMware Tools on dedicated VMs. We have a Full Clone pool that we assign VMs to users and according to the VMware documentation below, the Horizon Agent needs to be uninstalled before VMware Tools gets updated.

With Instant Clones, this is easy enough where the parent image can be updated following the above install order. With a dedicated pool, the Full Clones reply on a template image provided by vCenter. The install order can be performed on this template image, but how are other addressing the existing VMs?
According to VMware support, I need to be following this install order as a best practice. When you have over 100+ dedicated VMs, this introduces a bit of overhead just to update VMware Tools.
Is it just best to put together a script that could perform the following tasks?
1. Uninstall the Horizon Agent.
2. Reboot.
3. Update VMware Tools.
4. Reboot.
5. Re-Install the Horizon Agent.
6. Reboot
Thanks.
