Unprotect replica in 5.2

It appears that the sviconfig switch to unprotect a replica is no longer available in 5.2. Does anyone know how to perform this so I can move it to another host?

I typically just place a host in maintenance mode to move the replica off.   Would that work?

That was my plan, but in the documentation it states that in the event the replica won't move I'd need to unprotect it and do it by hand. I was familiar with that using 5.1 and was hesitant to try it out without an alternative other than deleting and recreating the pool. I'll give it a shot in off-hours.
