I am trying to install a Logitech G510 keyboard on Windows 7 which is accessed through VMware View for testing purposes. When installing the software from disc it should then detect the G510 keyboard to complete the installation but it does not appear to detect the keyboard.
I have two keyboards on my PC, one being the Logitech G510. My local PC detects both and shows both in Device Manager. In VMware View when I'm logged in on Windows 7 it is showing as having only one keyboard.
- I tried disconnecting/reconnecting the G510 which shows no change.
- I have tried rebooting which did not help.
- I disconnected my regular keyboard and kept only the G510 keyboard plugged in. It still shows it as a normal keyboard. If I run the G510 software/driver install it still doesn't detect this keyboard as a G510 to complete the install.
I tried the following procedure which did not help:
http://pubs.vmware.com/ws71_ace27/wwhelp/wwhimpl/js/html/wwhelp.htm#href=ws_user/devices.18.17.html
Does anyone have any insight into getting this Logitech G510 installed so I can use all of its features and functions?
Hi,
Is this wired keyboard , if it is USB, then can you check whether any other USB devices gets redirect to virtual desktop.

MOhammed
Keyboards, as HIDs, do not get redirected as full devices - instead their input is sent to the remote desktop. If this is a USB keyboard, it is possible to redirect the whole keyboard using USB redirection but this is not recommended for the following reasons:
(a) it will not be usable on the client while forwarded
(b) HID redirection can only be done with PCoIP sessions
(c) Device redirection may not be very performant over WAN links
If you do want to go down this route, you can either follow the steps in http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1011600 or, for 5.1 onwards, use the policies in http://pubs.vmware.com/view-51/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.vmware.view.administration.doc%2FGUID-A43F5E8E...
