USB printer issues

Hi all,

I've been scratching my head for a few days now with my zero clients and usb printers. I have multiple Windows 7 clones connecting via Zero Clients and an HP P1006 printer. The issue is, the printer would print, but then it would seem to lose it's connection, because the jobs would get stuck in the queue. I'd have to play around with restarting the printer and stopping and starting the print spool service, just to get it to work.

I noticed that we were originally using the Host Based driver for the P1006. I went into the parent, removed that printer, then added the driver that came with the HP CD. Since then, the users have not had the issue.

My question is, should we not be using host based drivers for View? I have other HP printers and for Windows 7, the only choice from HP is host-based drivers,  so I'm hestitant on adding them

Any information would be helpful

Not sure it matters.  The "host" in your case is jsut the VM so if it works better, use them.  Ideally non-host would save you CPU cycles, but I wouldn't be too concerned, printers can be a PITA, so if you have a driver that works, I wouldn't hesitate to use it.

Thanks Gunnar.

So far, the non host-based drivers seem to work better. I'll stick with those when I can
