USB Devices Supported (VMware View)

Hello, All.

I'm starting a VMware View evaluation and I have a couple questions regarding USB redirection.

So far I was able to successfully use a USB Flash Memory, but I had no such luck with a signature pad (http://www.topazsystems.com/products/siglite.asp) or a card reader (http://www.magtek.com/products/card_readers/mini/mini.asp)

When I connect to the virtual desktop I can only see "No suitable USB devices available".

On my PC I have vmware-viewclient-3.1.1-175957 and on the virtual desktop I have vmware-viewagent-3.1.1-175957 installed.

I also installed the devices' drivers on both my PC and the virtual desktop without success.

I'm probably missing something, but I can tell what at this point. Any hints, please?

Regards,

Eri Ramos Bastos

Replying to myself:

I found that VMware filters out all "Human Interface Devices", which is the category where the devices I describe fall into.

Workaround here: KB 1011600

Did that fix your issue? Does the sig pad work? Could you also tell me if that was used with a wyse terminal or a pc? Thanks

This workaround will work for most HID USB devices. It does require Windows XP though since the workaround is through a registry entry.

This means that this will not work on something like the Wyse V10L using the WTOS.
