Stuck on Windows 10 Sign out screen

When a user signs out of their VDI environment they get stuck on the blue windows signing out screen. The user has to force the physical computer to shut down and restart and I have to restart the virtual machine. Has anyone experienced this issue?

What type of agent machines are these:

  • Linked Clone / Instant Clone
  • Floating or persistent
  • Are you using any kind of profile management like UEM / Persona or Persistent disk
  • Did you optimized the Master image?
  • Are you able to reproduce the issue if you login directly to agent machine via vCenter console using Domain User account or Local admin account?

  • Instant clone
  • persistent disk
  • We are not currently using DEM or Persona
  • The master image was optimized
  • If I log into vCenter and do a sign out it works perfectly fine
  • We have the client installed on physical machines and we created the following shell to launch the client when a user logs in.

"C:\Program Files (x86)\VMWare\VMWare Horizon View Client\vmware-view.exe" -serverURL https://uag.xxxxx.org -unattended -desktopName MHC -loginAsCurrentUser true shutdown

Can you confirm if it is Instant Clone with persistent disk or Linked clone with Persistent disk.

Here we are using persistent disk to save users profile. What if we rename the profile and then login to the same agent machine. Does it exhibit the same behavior?

We are using instant clones with persistent disk. Same result with different profile.

Did you check the agent logs and windows event viewer for any unusual events.
