Strange difference between desktop Office apps and published apps

I am hoping someone can shed some light on a weird behavior difference between Office apps on VDI (Published Desktop) and Published Apps.

Background:

I have a Horizon Azure Cloud Pod with 2 farms, One for Apps and one for Desktops. Both of these use the exact same image:

This image is a basic Win10 Multi-session that was imported from Azure and I added Office 365 Apps and published it to the Farms. When I log into the full desktop, opening Excel (same behavior for all Office Apps) I can see all my recent documents from OneDrive (Expected behavior):

This is what happens when I launch the published apps:

When I click OneDrive, it shows that my account is logged in. If I attempt to log into OneDrive again, Excel will lock up and I have to kill the process to exit.

For profiles, I am using DEM. The user profile is the same for both farms. I can create the issue with new and previously created user profiles.

For OneDrive, I have excluded the bundled version from the Office installation and added the multi-session version. It is my understanding that Office uses an HTTPS connection to OneDrive and SharePoint and it should not if the standalone client is installed.

Is there any way to fix this so the user experience will be improved?

Thx,

Dan

Has no one else run into this issue? I would appreciate any feedback on what others are seeing with this.

Thx!
