Silently deploy VMware Horizon without exiting running instance?

Is it possible to silently update (install) VMware Horizon without closing out of a running instance of VMware Horizon? I am trying to deploy updates to machines running an older version and would like to deploy it to machines without interrupting work if possible. Is this possible? During my testing it always closes out of the running instance and does the update. I am using /install /silent /norestart in my installation.

Don't think you can control this. 

You have a few other options: 

  • Run it at "logon" of the user
  • Check if the process vmware-view.exe is running before starting the installation and if it's running wait to install
  • Notify the user that the connection will be closed for a few minutes during the installation and postpone the reboot to a later time (it says you need to reboot, but I've not seen any big issues skipping the reboot)
